Winery and Vineyards
We produce our wines at a small winemaking facility in Santa Rosa. This gives us access to modern winemaking equipment along with barrel storage and bottling. Clyde Galantine and I are the entire staff (with support from our wives). Our very small production allows us to handle the fruit from picking through production, blending, aging and bottling. Only French oak is used as years of experience have led me to the style enhanced by that oak. This is truly hands-on winemaking from the stained hands to the sore backs. We make a Cabernet Sauvignon, A Bordeaux Blend, a Zinfandel and a Zinfandel-based blend.
We currently source fruit from St Francis Wild Oak Vineyard in Sonoma Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignon displays the typical chocolate and cassis character along with firm tannins and excellent color. Harvest is typically mid October. We also have purchased a small quantity of Petite Sirah to blend into our Zinfandel. Inky and somewhat tannic, it adds structure to the Zin.
We purchase the Zinfandel from Mike Lee’s Monteciello Vineyard high above the Sonoma Valley. This is a classic Zin vineyard, hillside and head trained giving us ripe and intense fruit. It is typically harvested late September or early October. In 2015 due to the small crop size we contracted some Petit Verdot and Malbec from Sonoma Valley vineyards. We now produce a Bordeaux Blend, Sirius Red Wine, Zinfandel blend, and a Dog Tired Red.
